On the Opening of Shinagawa Internet Exhibition

    Shinagawa City is the birthplace of Keihin Industrial Area and has developed as a center of Japanese industry for a long time. However, urbanization has brought a great change in industrial structure around this area, so that the number of factories in Shinagawa City has been decreasing for three decades. Meanwhile, the urbanization has brought an increase of fabless company, i.e., company without factory, which is one of symbolic businesses in urbanization. The trend is still developing.

    In this situation, we have been advancing measures to assist companies to change from subcontract companies to product-development or -proposition companies. In particular, we have been encouraging energetic companies that attempt to add new values to their own products or to advance into new business fields by exploiting key technologies or advanced technologies.

    One attempt that we now implement is the opening of Shinagawa Internet Exhibition. This website presents a good place to both of exhibitors and customers. For exhibitors, they can have occasions to announce their excellent products and technologies to the whole world. For customers, they can get the information on products and technologies without visiting the companies.

    Like actual exhibitions, we set a theme and then exhibit products and technologies on the website according to the theme. We attempt to provide easy-to-understand contents, so that the website’s contents contain movies, slide shows, and three-D images. We also offer "Communication Board" where people can post questions about products and technologies and communicate each other.
